The Riddet Institute

The Riddet Institute is carrying out fundamental research that will underpin the next generation of innovative foods targeting heath and wellness. We are engaged in discovery-based scientific research into the structure and behaviour of complex food systems and how these interact with the consumer to influence quality of life.
Our strategies revolve around science and targeted knowledge transfer. Research is structured into three broad themes, driven by multi-disciplinary teams:

  • Future Foods – Inspired by Nature
  • Functional Foods and Ingredients
  • Individualised Foods, including Personalised Nutrition.

Our goal is to be a premier centre for research and scholarship, delivering benefits to all segments of the New Zealand food industry.
