National Research Centre for Growth and Development
The National Research Centre for Growth and Development brings together leading scientists from six partner organisations across New Zealand to address the question: what makes a healthy start to life?
The Centre’s research into the biology of mammalian development seeks to reveal how events during pregnancy and childhood influence the health of the individual throughout life. The insights gained will lead to new therapeutic and public policy approaches to diseases with a developmental origin, to better productivity in pastoral farm animals, and – through the Centre’s innovative outreach programmes – to improved scientific literacy and public health awareness in young New Zealanders.
