The Allan Wilson Centre is an internationally prestigious research organisation focusing on the study of ecology and evolution worldwide. We achieve this through groundbreaking and internationally relevant studies using the New Zealand and Pacific biota, enabled by the latest mathematical tools and molecular technologies.

Whilst the biogeography of New Zealand is unique, it provides models for investigating general processes that underpin the nature of complex biological systems, biodiversity and ecosystems.
The AWC is not a single conventional laboratory, but a cooperative research centre encompassing leading researchers and their facilities across the country. We have created an exciting environment for researchers to study the fundamental problems in biology and the biota of New Zealand.
